  • For me, yoga is a life path and the choices that I choose along the way. It is about connecting to the body, to the heart, to nature, to Mother Earth, to Spirit - to something much larger than this life. The practice is our greatest teacher inviting us to slow down, breathe, to move inward in order to observe, listen and investigate the fabric of our being - our light and our shadows, our joys and our fears, our humanity and our divinity.

Yoga is how we live our lives. It is in how we communicate and connect, how we take care of ourselves, how we take care of others and how we take care of our planet. It is our ability to look beyond the physical, connect to the soul, to love and be loved with compassion, empathy, understanding and joy. It is an ever-evolving, unfolding, intimate and exquisite love story.

I feel truly blessed to be able to share my love for the practice with others through teaching. It has changed my life completely and continues to do so each and every day. My intention as a teacher is to meet every student exactly where they are on their path and hold space for them to feel what needs to be felt and allow it to move through them - physically through the body, and emotionally and spiritually through the mind & the heart. My hope is that through this journey, my students are able to discover their own inner strength, and that place of stillness, peace and home within.

I believe my role as a teacher is to plant the seed, help to water that seed, and allow my students to grow and evolve in their own unique and beautiful way. My classes are soulful, explorative and creative, emphasizing intuitive movement, a deep listening, connection to oneself, to nature, to spirit and to Source.

I am beyond grateful to be a part of such a beautiful, supportive community here in Boston and beyond. My work continues to grow and evolve thanks to the ongoing support and inspiration from all of the wonderful teachers, mentors, students and friends who continue to awaken and heal me in ways I could never have imagined.

  • Anna came to her mat in 2006 looking to transition to a new form of exercise after more than a decade of being a trained ballet dancer. Following her first class, Anna was instantly hooked on the positive vibrations yoga gave to her; the mind-body connection found on the mat. Now every time she steps on her mat, the philosophy and spirituality of yoga, coupled with asana (the poses) create an opportunity for growth, compassion, and greater understanding of the self.

Anna studies various styles of yoga with a focus on Vinyasa. Her classes are challenging yet playful with an emphasis on alignment. Her intent is to provide an open space for her students to quiet the mind and strengthen the body in order to cultivate a transformative experience of self-awareness.

  • Emily first found the mat during a time of transition in her life. Having danced competitively for many years, she yearned for a class that offered dynamic movement in addition to the mental benefits of the practice. As time progressed, Emily realized how much she craved the sense of community that yoga has to offer.

For her, yoga has evolved into an experience that illuminates the benefits of the mind body connection but also the power of community. Emily's classes will enable students to establish a relationship between the body, the mind and the breath. Through thoughtful sequencing and a strong focus on alignment, her classes will challenge you to use your body in a mindful way. Placing high value on the sense of community yoga brings, she offers hands-on assists and adjustments, plenty of indie and folk music and little nuggets of wisdom she's picked up along the way. No matter where you are when you walk into the studio, Emily aims to meet you where you are on the mat, in hopes that you can carry some newly found awareness when you leave the studio.

Understanding that we are always students in this life, Emily is grateful for the mentors, teachers, friends and students who have impacted and inspired her teaching style which is ever-evolving.

  • Michael was introduced to yoga while working at a start-up where an instructor came on Wednesdays to teach a lunchtime yoga class; he’s been hooked ever since.

He teaches creative yoga sequences that allow practitioners to inhabit the poses and to feel the movement in the body. Michael draws on early experience in gymnastics and other movement modalities to inspire students to test their limits. He believes yoga is endlessly challenging; whether it be learning yogic breathe, respecting the limitations of the body, taming the mind to be where the body is, or simply being less competitive, it offers something new every time you step on the mat.

Michael completed his first 200-hour teaching certification in Vinyasa and Hatha yoga at Frog Lotus Yoga, and did his second 200-hour certification at O2 Yoga. Michael has been quoted in the New York Time and Newsweek on the pitfalls of yoga competitions.

  • I dabbled in so many forms of movement growing up (skating, dance, volleyball, etc), but it wasn't until a friend dragged me to a yoga class in the early aughts that I was able to fully connect with myself. I remember feeling overwhelmed, inadequate, and profusely sweaty in that heated/branded power class, but I also remember being incredibly tuned into the sensations I was experiencing, and the patterns of my thoughts. Since then, yoga has been a way to center myself during even the most tumultuous times of my life. It reminds me to practice compassion, everyday, for self and for others.

In terms of the physical, I love that postural yoga provides a chance to work all areas of the body, to practice building strength at end ranges, and connects us to the rhythms of our breath and our heartbeat. I’ve taught nearly 3,000 hours since earning my 200-RYT in 2016 with Mimi Loureiro and will complete my 300-RYT in 2022 under Daniel Max and Ame Wren.

My classes are often inspired by the structure and shapes found in the Ashtanga system, and usually center around an area or action of the body. I like to partner strength and mobility work, explore ways to reset the mind-body connection, and infuse a sense of play into sequences. My continued studies usually focus on the anatomy and mechanics of yoga and I strive to convey that knowledge during practice to help students build a better understanding of their own bodies.

All levels of her classes involve a strong vinyasa flow as the way to create peace of mind through challenging, balancing and aligning the body. She loves seeing how people benefit from building strength, increasing flexibility and ultimately, cultivating inner peace.

Over the years Toby’s teaching has evolved to not only involve a challenging vinyasa style but also working with people in various stages of life.

Helping to cure her own back injury, she developed sequences of core strengthening-meets-traditional yoga poses which she uses regularly to help others who have lower back pain.

Knowing how yoga can benefit all people, Toby hopes to make the practice accessible and available to everyone. She trained in yoga and meditation for individuals with cancer during treatment and recovery and she regularly teaches at senior centers and for people undergoing various forms of healing.

As a mentor for the Africa Yoga Project for many years Toby has provided support for teachers in Kenya, Uganda and South Africa on their journey as a yoga professional.

Toby’s yoga experience is enhanced by her training in body work. While living in Thailand in 2003-2004 helping to launch a new yoga studio, Toby trained in Thai Yoga Bodywork to further her understanding of alignment and well-being. She also later attended Massage therapy school in the USA to become a licensed massage therapist.

When not teaching yoga, Toby enjoys spending time with her family and discovering the ways her two boys open her mind and her heart.

She encourages and invites all those who work with her to be their own guides and healers. For Kristina, it’s not just about the movements (asana) but the spiritual, emotional, and energetic expressions of our beings.

Kristina first experienced yoga as a kindergartener, led to roar like a lion in table top and stand on one leg like a flamingo. She continued her learning in high school when she started to attend classes at North End Yoga and truly experienced yoga beyond just asana.

In 2013, Kristina took her 200 hour at Health Yoga Life and has since continued to learn from countless amazing and informative teachers. She has also taken the courses “Yoga for Emotional Health and Healing” with Kate Graham and “Somatic Educator for Women” with the Somatic Institute for Women. Both with a focus on trauma and how it’s held in our bodies. With experience in reiki, breathwork, and Thai bodywork, she is very passionate about making these practices accessible to all, in both group and personal settings.

  • Inspired by a connection to the natural world and our own cyclical nature, Julianne brings a deep sense of grounding to her classes. She holds space for her students to have a uniquely individual experience while supported by community, and understands the delicate dance between solitude and togetherness.

Julianne became dedicated to her yoga practice while living internationally, and found it to be a grounding force during an unpredictable time. The many years she spent abroad exposed her to various forms of pranayama, meditation, and ways of being that she brings to the mat today. She has had the opportunity to study under wonderful mentors and teachers, all of whom shaped her into the teacher she is now. Inspired by yoga philosophy, anatomy, and Ayurveda, her classes are designed to drop students into their bodies, quiet mental chatter, and invoke a sense of lightness and ease. In addition to teaching yoga, Julianne is also a certified Birth Doula and Prenatal Shiatsu Massage practitioner.

Her hope is that everyone is given the opportunity to dive inward, learn about their own unique and beautiful gifts and, when they are ready, share them with the world. Because, as Howard Thurman so eloquently said: “Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”

  • I co-founded and co-directed South Boston Yoga Studio from 2008 through 2020. I have led classes, workshops, retreats, and over 45 Teacher Trainings in Boston and around the globe. My movement background is extensive spanning 20+ years in Yoga, Martial Arts, Creative Movement, and Personal Training as well as a BA in Eastern Philosophy with a firm foundation in meditation and other internal arts. I teach with a fierce compassion grounded in intelligently creative classes to bring each student to a stronger, firmer understanding of their own body and health potential.

I do not practice or teach any one exclusive ‘style’ of yoga or movement. I filter all of my various influences through my own practice and body exploration to construct my classes. I teach my students to move from their center through fun and creative sequencing, static and dynamic stretching, isometric strength development, bodyweight conditioning and arm balancing/inversion work. I encourage transitioning with grace, articulation and control from one movement to the next to develop whole-body core strength, stable alignment, coordination and a greater range of controlled motion.
